Nellore MP donates Rs 1 crore for Vijayawada flood relief aid
TIRUPATI: Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy along with his wife and Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy donated Rs 1 crore for the Vijayawada flood relief aid on Tuesday.
Vemireddy couple met chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu at Vijayawada on Tuesday and handed over their donation in the form of a cheque in the presence of union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu.
Speaking to reporters later, Nellore MP stated that he was moved by the plight of lakhs of people who were devastated and displaced in the unprecedented floods at Vijayawada.
"People have lost their loved ones, their belongings, valuables and everything. This calamity is one of its kind in a century and the NDA govt led by chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu have been reaching out to the people in distress by launching a massive rescue and rehabilitation exercise unheard of in the history of Vijayawada", Vemireddy added.
To help the state govt in extending all necessary support to the flood affected victims, we donated a sum of Rs 1 crore today. We will also extend all necessary support to the state govt in its efforts to restore normalcy at the earliest at Vijayawada", Nellore MP asserted.
