Pregnant woman carried on hand-made basket for 12km in Andhra Pradesh, baby dies
A heavily pregnant woman had to be carried for 12km in a hand-made basket from her home deep inside the forests of
Jindamma, the 22-year-old woman, then gave birth to a baby boy midway who died even before they could reach to an ambulance.

The eight-month tribal pregnant woman went into labour but couldn't get any ambulance and healthcare services nearby as her house is located deep inside the forest.
Her husband then decided to carry her in a hand-made 'doli' fashioned out of a bamboo pole, a sari and a cane basket. A some villagers also decided to help them in their long journey in the rough terrain.
The group walked for some 12km through the forest but had to stop after Jindamma could not bear it anymore and gave birth to a baby boy. However, the baby died before she could get to the ambulance.
Noteworthy, there is no road connectivity from Kondathamara village to Duggeru of Salur mandal in the district.
After they reached Duggeru, Jindamma was admitted to Paravathipuram ITDA hospital. Jindamma, a mother of two, is now in Parvathypuram ITDA hospital after she suffered excessive bleeding.
The video of Jindamma's husband and other villagers carrying her in the 'doli' through the forest is being widely shared on social media platforms.
