artists, led by Espirtu Maxicano group, marked 6th

Folk Festival

at Khalsa University here on Friday. A

fusion

of Mexican and

Punjabi

folklore music and dance took the heritage campus by storm as the audience witnessed a rare and magical performance.


The festival organized by the varsity in collaboration with Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (PCPC) exhibited the fusion of Mexican and Punjabi folk dance and music as artists from Latin country and Punjab came together on the stage to give gripping performances. Wearing their traditional, colourful dresses, the Mexican took to the stage with full enthusiasm and won the heart with the foot-tapping dances and melodious singing.

Apart from the music, the theatrical presentation by Espirtu touched the nerves as they gave folk presentations of their native country through the meticulously choreographed orchestration. They took the stage by storm when they intermingled with the local students and performed Punjabi

folklore

together. The varsity’s Bhangra and Gidda team meanwhile was appreciated too during the programme.

Pro-chancellor Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina described the festival as an opportunity of two countries’ artists to forge international peace and friendship through art and understand different cultures.
