BATHINDA: Nearly two months ago, when parents of Tina Sharma (now Aishya) came to know about her marriage to Suleman in Pakistan, they desperately tried to get in touch with her to know her well-being. They managed to contact her after several days, and were relieved to know that she was happy there. Soon after, they approached the
Bathinda police and got the

here withdrawn.
Tina’s parents have severed all ties with her for settling in Pakistan without informing anyone, but the family is satisfied that she is content with her life after facing a lot of trauma here. Her two sons, aged 13 and 11 years, stay with their father.
The fact that Tina was not captive in Pakistan, as was suspected earlier, gave much relief to her parents.
Tina (37) faced a lot of hardships in her first marriage at Bathinda. She used to complain about her in-laws’ mistreatment. It was on October 24, 2018 that Tina’s parents had filed a complaint with the police after her in-laws informed them of her leaving their home. On October 26, Tina’s father-in-law Ashwani Kumar had called Tina’s parents informing them of getting a call from her and that she was okay.
On the night of October 27, the parents got suspicious and a case u/s 364, (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) was registered against her husband Umesh, father-in-law Ashwani Kumar, mother-in-law Chander Prabha, brother-in-law Chetan and sister-in-law Shikha at Canal Colony police station, Bathinda, on November 1, 2018.
Tina's father (name withheld on persistent request) told that the complaint was made after he realised that his daughter was being treated badly. “We got suspicious of her elimination and made complaint to the police but when in February she came into contact with us and told us about her well-being, we approached the Bathinda police and withdrew the case," he said.
Bathinda SSP Nanak Singh told TOI that FIR number 209 was registered at Canal Colony police station against the in-laws of Tina. “The family now has informed the police of their daughter’s marriage and settlement in Pakistan,” he said.
After reaching Pakistan on October 24, 2018 Tina tied the nupital knot with Suleman of Gujranwala, five years younger to her.
