After polls, property registration drive planned for Sambhajinagar: Bawankule
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Maharashtra govt will undertake a comprehensive property registration drive in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after the municipal corporation elections, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Friday, assuring that long-pending ownership and record-related issues of thousands of properties will be regularised.Bawankule said a large number of city residents currently hold land and houses only on the basis of 7/12 extracts, while many properties lack formal registration documents or approved building plans. "After the civic polls, a resolution will be passed in the municipal corporation and the matter will be taken up with state govt to initiate property registrations. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will also be included in the Central Mapping Scheme to correct and update property records," he said.Under the mapping scheme, a door-to-door measurement of every house will be carried out and a complete survey of the city will be undertaken, the minister said. The proposal to take up property registrations will be placed before the state cabinet for approval, for which a municipal corporation resolution will be mandatory. "Once the new civic body is in place, a resolution will be passed and ownership-related disputes reflected in property records will be regularised," Bawankule said.He added that efforts would be made to ensure that names of all eligible occupants are included in property cards, including those holding municipal records, gaunthewari properties and properties on govt land. Govt is also considering a decision to regularise all constructions on private land up to Oct 15, 2024, and constructions on govt land that existed before 2001, he said.Bawankule further said a decision was taken to convert properties in CIDCO and other parts of the city to freehold. In industrial areas, land would not be required to be converted to non-agricultural (NA) status, he said, adding that even residential pockets within industrial zones would not need separate NA entries."As a result, traders and entrepreneurs will no longer have to approach the tehsildar or sub-divisional officer for NA permissions. They will have to pay a one-time charge," the minister said, reiterating that land records across the city will be corrected and updated.
