2 dead as speeding bus hits auto on Meerut highway

BAREILY: Two people, including an 8-year-old boy, died on Thursday when a speeding roadways bus rammed an autorickshaw near Karua bridge on the Meerut Highway in Badaun. The boy and his family were returning after a dip in the Ganga river on Buddha Purnima. Auto driver, Moin Ali, also died on the spot.

The boy’s family members were critically injured and have been admitted at the CHC in Ujhani while the two bodies have been sent for the autopsy.

The bus driver fled the spot with his vehicle after the accident and police are trying to track him down. The accident caused a traffic jam on the highway which was exacerbated by the increased number of vehicles on the road due to Buddha Purnima.
