BAREILLY: A train driver's quick thinking prevented a potentially serious accident late Friday night near Dibnapur railway station, according to officials.
The driver, operating a freight train traveling from Pilibhit to Bareilly, spotted a large iron bar and broken concrete pieces obstructing the tracks. He immediately applied the emergency brakes, slowing the train before impact.
"As the goods train from Pilibhit was making its way to Bareilly, the driver noticed the obstruction on the track. Reacting swiftly, he applied the emergency brakes, preventing the train from derailing," said Rajendra Singh, a spokesperson for North Eastern Railway's Bareilly Izzatnagar Division.
While the train's engine sustained damage in the collision, no one was injured. Authorities believe the debris was deliberately placed on the tracks.
Police and railway officials are investigating the incident. Following a thorough inspection and track clearance, the train continued its journey after a two-hour delay. Other train services also experienced delays due to the incident.
