Class VIII student beaten for plucking guava fruit

BAREILLY: District Inspector of Schools (

DIOS

) on Friday has ordered an inquiry against three teachers and a manager of a private school who allegedly beat a student of their school for plucking a

guava fruit

outside the school premises.

Paras (who goes by his first name) is a class VIII student. His mother, Baby, who is a IV grade employee at collectorate, has gave written complaint to DM VK Singh, who transferred it to DIOS.

In her complaint, Baby said, “Three teachers along with manager physically assaulted my son after locking him in a room on Wednesday. They were angry with him as he had plucked a guava from a tree. My son has injuries marks on his back and neck. The school officials also forced my son to write an apology letter that he will not repeat his mistake in future.”

Sudhanshu Sharma, owner of the school, has denied the allegations.

“No teacher beat the boy or touched him. After school got over, students had gathered at Suresh Sharma Nagar to pluck guavas and they later started fighting with each other. We received complaints from neighbours that our school students are creating nuisance and asked students to give us an apology letter.”
