4 dead as bus hits car while overtaking

Bareilly: Four women, including two minor sisters, were killed after a UP state transport bus hit a car while overtaking on Moradabad-Agra highway in UP’s Sambhal on Thursday. All victims were from Rampur and were on their way to Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan.

The accident occurred near Bichpuri village. Bhagwant Singh (35), a resident of Civil Lines area of Rampur, had left with wife, Preeti (32), daughters Radhika (7) and Dhansha (5), son Krishna (2), mother-in-law Meena Devi (55), sister-in-law Rajbala (35) and brother-in-law Pushpendra Kumar (23) in a car. Radhika, Dhansha, Meena and Rajbala died on the spot.

Eyewitnesses said the bus was overtaking the car when it collided with the car. Gunnaur SHO said, “The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. The bus has been seized and an FIR has been registered against the driver under sections 304a (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of IPC.”
