Bareilly: A departmental inquiry has confirmed negligence charges against two suspended police officers – an inspector and a sub-inspector -- in the Badaun
HPCL double murder case in which a general manager and an assistant general manager were shot dead on March 12. The findings revealed that the officers failed to act on prior complaints filed by the plant management, concluding that timely action could have prevented the killings.

Ajay Kumar and sub-inspector Dharmendra Kumar, who were posted at Moosajhag police station, have been found guilty of dereliction of duty following a departmental inquiry into the Badaun HPCL double murder case.
The inquiry established that HPCL management had submitted written complaints against the prime accused, Ajay Pratap Singh, prior to the incident, but both officers failed to act. Senior officials acknowledged that timely intervention could have averted the tragedy.
The double murder occurred on March 12, 2026, when Singh—a terminated vendor—entered the company’s Sainji village facility and shot dead general manager Sudhir Kumar Gupta and assistant general manager Harshit Mishra at close range. Singh was subsequently arrested.
