BAREILLY:
Moradabad police seized 14 stolen motorbikes on Wednesday from
Dilari
police station area and arrested four members of a gang.
Police said one of the accused had passed out from
Industrial Training Institute
(ITI), while another, a minor, was studying in class XII.
Superintendent of police (rural area)
Uday Shankar Singh
told TOI, “Sandeep is the mastermind of the gang and trains his accomplices on tricks to lift bikes from crowded place. They used to sell stolen bikes in rural areas. They have confessed to have stolen around 50 bikes, so far.”
Police said after completing his ITI, Sandeep started working in Noida, where he stole a bike. He then returned to Moradabad and formed a gang.
“Accused revealed that they started stealing motorbikes for money to fulfil their desires of staying in five star hotels and buying expensive gadgets,” said SP.
SP said they had been receiving complaints of bike lifting for the past couple of weeks. On Wednesday, following a tip-off, they raided Narayanpur Teju village and found 14 bikes dumped in an abandoned house.
“We also nabbed four accused from the site. One of them is a minor. He will be sent to a juvenile home, while the other three accused have been identified as Sandeep, Narendra and Mahesh,” SP added.
