Massive fire burns down 2 poultry farms, 6k chickens killed

Bareilly: Two poultry farms were destroyed in a fire near Binaura village of Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday night in which 6,000 chickens were killed.

Poultry farm operator Jandar Khan said, "I had gone home for some work and the laborers were working at the farm when the blaze broke out. Though the villagers tried to put out the fire, 6,000 chickens were killed."

While villagers claimed that they informed the fire department about the blaze, officials said they did not get a call about any such incident.

Along with the chickens, 120 bags of grain were destroyed, so the estimated loss is of Rs 3 lakh. The cause of the fire is not known yet.
