The accused owed the victim a large amount towards fruits supplied to them over the past five years. When the trader reached Pilibhit to demand his outstanding payment, the wholesalers abused him and threatened him with murder.

The victim, Ravi Kumar, who lives in

Gur Mandi

under Model Town police station in Delhi, filed a written complaint at Sungarhi police station late night on Monday, alleging that he had trade dealings with Anwar Hussain and company, of the agriculture produce marketing committee (APMC) campus in Pilibhit.

Partners Aftab Hussain

and Guddu began taking supplies of fruits from him many years ago, but stopped paying since 2015. After every reminder, Kumar said they kept reassuring him they would clear all dues with the next consignment. Gradually, their arrears accumulated to the tune of Rs 45.6 lakh.

Unable to rely on their word any more, when Kumar reached Pilibhit and demanded payment of his dues, he was abused by the two accused and threatened with murder.
