Village headman, two others, booked for attempt to murder

Bareilly: A 27-year-old farmer, Ashutosh Kumar Chauhan, had a narrow escape on Sunday after Milak

Manzoor Ahmed opened fire at him over a land dispute.

Chauhan rushed to Subhashnagar police station and narrated the incident to police.

Subhashnagar station house officer (SHO) Jagnaryan Panday, said, “On Chauhan’s complaint, an FIR was registered against Ahmed and his two accomplices, Imran and Anees Ahmad under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC. We are conducting raids to nab the accused.”

Chauhan, a property dealer and a resident of Anguri Thakurain village, alleged that the accused — Miluck village head Manzoor Ahmad, 45, his younger brother Imran, 28, and Manzoor’s friend Anis Ahmad, all residents of neighbouring Miluck village — had been trying to grab my ancestral land.

“Around 8 am on Sunday, Manzoor made a phone call, asking me to meet him at my ancestral field. When I reached the spot, Manzoor, along with Imran and Anis, was present there. Suddenly, without having any conversations, Manzoor opened fired at me with his country-made pistol. I had a narrow escape. I managed ran away from the spot and informed to police,” said Chauhan.
