Bengaluru: Railway Protection Force (RPF) caught three women from
Maharashtra at KR Pura railway station last week for robbing female passengers.
According to RPF, the three were tracked based on analysis of ‘Rail Madad’ theft complaints from passengers. A dedicated Theft of Passenger Belongings (TOPB) team of Bengaluru Cantonment circle verified CCTV footage and found how the gang operated.
The three women -- Heena Shaik, (45), Kabutra Bhai, (48) and Sakeena (30), all residents of Solapur in Maharashtra -- would target women passengers about to board trains or waiting on platforms. They would get in crowded trains and snatch valuables by opening passengers’ bags.
On Saturday afternoon, the RPF team was tracking passengers of 12640 Brindavan Express travelling between KSR Bengaluru and MGR Chennai Central stations. They noticed the three women moving near the end of platform nos. 2 and 3 and caught them.
