19-year-old 'gang-raped' in Bengaluru villa: 5 arrested
BENGALURU: Amruthahally police, investigating the alleged gangrape of a 19-year-old from Tamil Nadu at a villa in Jakkur, have arrested three more people, taking the total number of arrests to five so far.
The newly-arrested accused have been identified as Shravan, 21, a native of Shivamogga; Anirudh, 33, a native of Davanagere; and Mohit Jain 23, from Gujarat. The two arrested earlier are Dixon Santra, 21, from Kolkata, and Nikhil HD, 34, a resident of Sakaleshpura in Hassan district, who is into real estate business.
According to deputy commissioner of police (north-east) GK Mithun Kumar, the fresh arrests were made based on the confession of the two men arrested earlier, as they had allegedly supported the crime in different capacities.
The survivor, a graduation student at a private college in the city, alleged that she came in contact with Dixon on Instagram. She claimed he trapped her on the pretext of love and invited her to a party at a villa on the night of Feb 14.
She reached the villa in the early hours of Feb 15 along with a friend, where Dixon introduced her to Nikhil. The girl alleged that she was forced to consume a pill, after which she felt dizzy. While she was semi-conscious, she was allegedly sexually assaulted by two men.
The complaint was lodged after Nikhil approached Malleswaram police, alleging a honey-trap attempt.
A senior officer said Anirudh, a contractor, had allegedly assisted in booking the villa belonging to an IPS officer. Other accused are said to have provided logistical support, including arranging a car. Police clarified that the IPS officer had rented out the villa to one person, who later sub-leased it to a third party, and that the officer was unaware of the premises being used for such a party.
