5 killed as SUV hits auto on Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway
CHIKKABALLAPURA: Five people - an autorickshaw driver, and four women labourers, were killed and five others sustained serious injuries in a road accident on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway near Sunkalamma Temple in Bagepalli taluk Sunday.
The accident occurred around 3pm when a Mahindra Thar travelling towards Hyderabad allegedly rammed an autorickshaw from behind. The impact forced the autorickshaw to ram a lorry parked on the roadside, trapping the vehicle between the truck and the SUV. The deceased were identified as auto driver Anjinappa, 35, and passengers Umadevi, 55, Vijaya, 40, Lakshmamma, 50, and Sarojamma, 65, all residents of Bagepalli town. tnn
According to Chikkaballapura SP Kushal Chousky, nine women were travelling in the auto. The victims had almost reached Bagepalli when the car hit the vehicle from behind, leading to the collision.
Five women - Gangadevi, Lakshmidevi, Rathnamma, Arunamma and Rajamma - suffered serious injuries and were admitted to a hospital in Chikkaballapura.

The four women were agricultural labourers returning home when the tragedy occurred.According to Chikkaballapura SP Kushal Chousky, nine women were travelling in the auto. The victims had almost reached Bagepalli when the car hit the vehicle from behind, leading to the collision.
