of a 32-year-old homemaker found that her dentist-lover had couriered to her his wife’s ornaments after killing his spouse in their home in Kadur, Chikkamagaluru district, on February 17.

Dr Revanth jumped before a moving train on Saturday afternoon after police closed in on him for murdering his wife, Kavitha. He allegedly spoke to Harshitha, his lover, before ending his life. Police suspect Harshitha knew of the murder plot and his suicide move.

On Saturday night, hours after speaking to Dr Revanth, Harshitha hanged herself at her house in Javaregowda Nagar, Rajarajeshwarinagar. On Tuesday, RR Nagar police recovered the gold ornaments from her house.

Harshitha, who hailed from Tumakuru, was married to Sudarshan, a KSRTC bus driver-cum-conductor.

“Around 4.30pm on February 17, Dr Revanth killed his wife Kavitha by injecting her with a sedative and later slit her throat. He took her ornaments weighing 115 grams, including the ones she was wearing, and packed them. He went to a

courier

shop in Birur and sent them to Harshitha, who received the parcel the next day,” an investigating officer said.

Dr Revanth wanted the scene (Kavitha’s death) to look like it was murder for gain to divert police investigation, the officer added.
