BENGALURU: Namma Metro services will be regulated from March 23 (Monday) to March 31 (Tuesday) to facilitate social distancing as a measure for countering the spread of Covid–19 pandemic.

There will be no service between 10am to 4pm and 8pm-6am.

The frequency of Metro from Monday will be: 6-8am at 10 minutes frequency (for persons working for essential services only), 8 to 10am at 5 minutes frequency (for all having unavoidable and essential need to travel), 4 to 5pm (10 minutes frequency), 5 to 7pm (five minutes frequency), 7 to 8pm (10 minutes) frequency.

“The metro services should be used primarily by persons carrying out essential services such as medical and public health, police and other security services, water supply, electricity, transport, municipal and government services. All such commuters are required to carry identity card to establish their role as provider of essential services” said a senior

“General public may use the metro services sparingly only when their travel is absolutely essential and unavoidable. Such commuters should also carry their identity card or any other relevant document to show essential and avoidable nature of their travel,” an official said.

“As social distancing has to be maintained even in the trains, capacity of each train is limited to 150 commuters only. Alternate seats have to be left vacant and no standing passengers are allowed.”

The number of entrance and exits at each station will be limited to maximum two. All commercial outlets, eateries and parking lots at metro stations will be closed permanently till March 31.
