Building tilts in Marathahalli, owner arrested

BENGALURU: A 35-year-old building owner was arrested on charges of illegally constructing a structure in Marathahalli that tilted on Thursday.

HAL police said Marathahalli resident K Shivaprasad was nabbed under IPC section 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others). On Thursday, the newly constructed five-storey residential building tilted to the right towards an adjacent structure. Three families staying in the building - constructed on a 20x30 site - rushed out in panic.

"Shivaprasad hadn't taken BBMP's permission to construct five floors. The basic planning of the structure was unscientific," HAL police said.
