BENGALURU: The high court on Tuesday directed the government to submit a status report on 141 untraced children.

A division bench headed by chief justice

Ritu Raj Awasthi

gave this direction after hearing a

PIL

filed by Kolar resident KC Rajanna. The bench issued notice to the government, DG&IGP and director of

Integrated Child Protection Scheme

(ICPS).

The petitioner claimed information obtained under

RTI

revealed the number of missing children from government child-care instructions from 2015-2016 to October 2021, and there was no information about the whereabouts of 141 kids.

“No efforts are being made by the authority concerned to trace the children although criminal cases have been registered,” B Umapathi, counsel for the petitioner, told the court.
