Dog bite sparks a fistfight between 2 families, 1 stabbed
BENGALURU: A dog bite-triggered scuffle between two families ended in a 34-year-old farmer sustaining stab wounds in his abdomen, while at least two women and as many men were left nursing injuries in Doddacheemanahalli, Vishwanathapur near Devanahalli on December 10.
Following a complaint and a counter-complaint filed by the families, cops have booked four persons each under different sections of the Indian Penal Code, including for outraging modesty of woman, voluntarily causing grivious hurt with dangerous weapons, acting with criminal intimidation and attempt to murder.
One person has been arrested and cops have issued notices to others, directing them to appear for investigation. The incident unfolded at 5pm of December 10, when N Madduramma, 42, a daily wage worker and her grand-daughter were walking past the house of one M Manjunath, also a daily wage worker. Manjunath’s pet dog jumped out of the house and came very close to Madduramma and her granddaughter. In no time, it bit the girl on her back, claimed Madduramma.
Madduramma took the girl to her house and then to a nearby government hospital for treatment. Leaving the girl there, Madduramma returned home and narratted the incident to her sons — N Anil and N Sunil — also daily wage workers. The injured girl was Anil’s daughter.
Anil and Sunil accompanied by their wives, went to Manjunath’s house and sought an explanation. The brothers were carrying wooden logs in their hands.
“Soon, a heated argument broke out between them and in no time, they attacked one another. By then, someone stabbed Madhukumar, the elder brother of Manjunath, in his abdomen and he fell down. Neighbours intervened and controlled them,” said police.
Madhukumar was shifted to a private hospital in Doddaballapur and is under observation, added cops. Others got treated at a government hospital. Next morning, both parties visited Vishwanathapura police station.
Madduramma first filed a complaint against dog owner Manjunath, his brother M Madhukumar, and their father Muniyappa and mother Poojamma Muniyappa.
Later, Manjunath filed a counter-complaint against Anil, Sunil, and their relatives M Devaraja, Ajay and others, police said.
Girl’s wound healing
Police arrested Anil after Madhukumar told police that he had stabbed him in the abdomen. The six-year-old is doing fine and her wound is healing, said police.
