Social media platforms offer ‘communication without a relationship’, the archbishop told the gathering, which was part of the Church of South India (CSI). “Social media and digital communication can instead be put to use for the common good of society and for showing solidarity for the common good,” he added.

The archbishop outlined screenings for Down Syndrome among expectant mothers and the resulting abortions as one of the cons of technology today. “With the advent of technology, even genetic disorders like Down Syndrome can be detected in the womb, which leads to abortions in some cases,” the archbishop said.

After his interaction with working professionals from the technology and business sectors, he visited United Theological College.

The archbishop will be in the city till Wednesday; a ‘Holy Eucharist Service’ will be held at St Mark’s Cathedral.
