Union minister of civil aviation Jyotiraditya M

Scindia

said in the days to come, urban air mobility will be revolutionised with the introduction of eVTOL aircraft. eVTOLs are being deployed by the US and Canadian Air Force. Once there is proof of concept (PoC), they can seek certification from

FAA

and

EASA

(FAA is United States’ Federal Aviation Administration; EASA is European Union Aviation Safety Agency).

The minister was speaking at the seventh edition of India Ideas Conclave, organised in the city on Saturday by India Foundation, in association with WMG group. The theme of the session was ‘India @2047’, where speakers presented their vision for the country in 2047.

Scindia said apart from new technologies, by 2047, the country will also achieve full coverage of all schemes. He said in the last eight years, the government built 150 percent of the existing highway length across the country.

“By 2047, we will also be looking at the rise of the urban economy as well as decentralisation of growth. Our focus is on tier 2 and 3 cities now,” he said, adding emphasis will be on building the capacity of the country’s demographic dividend. “At present, 70 per cent of our population is below 35 years. In the next 25 years, 25 percent of the global workforce will be Indian and close to 15 percent of global GDP will be contributed by India,” he added.
