Head constable goes missing, wife files complaint

Bengaluru: A 40-year-old head constable attached to the Vidhana Soudha police station in the city has been missing for a week. Based on a complaint filed by the wife of Mahammad Gous, a resident of Shanthi Layout in Ramamurthy Nagar, KR Puram police have registered a case.

The complainant, who works as a first division assistant in Vijayapura district, Gous called her on Oct 10 and asked her to come to Bengaluru as she had three days’ leave for the Dussehra festival. She agreed to it; however, he called her at 9pm from an unknown number and informed her she need not come to Bengaluru as he was travelling to Vijayapura and was taking a bus in the next 15 minutes. When she asked him what happened to his phone, he told her that it was switched off due to low battery.

He did not turn up the next morning and when she tried to reach him on his mobile, it was still switched off. She enquired about him with their relatives and friends, but could not find any clues. On Oct 14, she visited Vidhana Soudha police station and learned that he last attended work on Oct 10. She went to his house and found it was locked.

An officer said Gous’s phone was switched off near Vidhana Soudha and that he was doing ‘beat and point duty’ at the station. According to him, he didn’t have issues at work.
