Karnataka HC turns down plea to probe medical negligence in habeas corpus
BENGALURU:
This was after court was told that the body of petitioner’s mother was handed over to the relatives.
In addition to seeking a direction for handing over the dead body of her mother, S Priyanka Naidu, a resident of Shakaranagar had also alleged that due to negligence on the part of doctors at the hospital where her mother, Gowri (62), who was admitted on October 13 died on October 22.
She had further claimed that since the family members could not pay bills amounting Rs 1.4 lakh, the hospital is refusing to hand over the body and hence the hospital had detained the body and the same was kept there without any
She had prayed the court for a direction for handing over the dead body and also look into the medical negligence aspect.
When the matter was taken up by the court, the counsel for petitioner Priyanka even contended that the police have not complied with the necessary procedure, which was to be followed in such cases.
