KSRTC driver seeks leave to watch HDK junior’s new film
BENGALURU: Call it honesty at its best or trivia of sorts. A KSRTC bus driver from Mysuru has sought a day’s leave from work so that he and his family can watch chief minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Gowda’s latest movie, Seetharama Kalyana. Impressed by his honesty, the manager has positively responded to him. The film was released on Friday.
Rajesh MJ, a driver-cum-conductor attached to Krishnarajanagar bus depot, wrote to his manager, saying, “I want to take my family to watch Seetharama (Kalyana). I’m proud to say that I’m from the same district which Nikhil Gowda and chief minister HD Kumaraswamy belong to. I request you to sanction me a day’s leave to watch the movie with my family. “
Rajesh drives a bus which operates between Krishnarajanagar and Mysuru, making at least five rounds between the two cities.
Rajesh had decided to take leave on Sunday, but had to work. He again planned to take leave on Monday. By then, his wife had uploaded the leave letter on Facebook, which went viral on Saturday.
Rajesh told TOI that he wanted a day’s leave as he cannot go out with the family on working days. “Every day, I leave home at 7am and come back only by 8pm. We rarely get time to go out for movies. I wrote to my depot manager and he has positively responded. I was honest while citing the reason in the leave letter.”
Rajesh, a film buff, says he couldn’t watch many recent Kannada movies with his family. The last film we watched was Puneeth Rajkumar’s Raajakumara. If I get leave on Monday , I will watch the 7pm show of Seetharama Kalyana in Krishnarajanagar,” he said.
Papa Nayak, depot manager, Krishnarajanagar, said, “I spoke to him (Rajesh) and I appreciate his honesty. I will sanction leave while ensuring that it doesn’t affect operations of the bus he drives.”
