Mandya election results 2024 live updates: JDS's HD Kumaraswamy wins election

NEW DELHI: Janta Dal(Secular) HD Kumaraswamy won the Mandya Lok Sabha election. He received a total of 8,51,881 votes and won by a margin of 2,84,620.

Mandya, known as the land of sugar and rice, is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, a prominent agricultural district established in 1939.

This constituency went to polls on the 26th of April in the second phase. It recorded a voter turnout of a remarkable 81.67%, highest in the Karnataka state.

The battle lines have been drawn between Congress and Janta Dal(Secular). The incumbent MP Sumalatha Ambareesh, an independent candidate who won with the outside support of the BJP has been replaced by HD Kumaraswamy. He has been fielded against Venkatramane Gowda of Congress.

2019 Lok Sabha election resultBy securing 51.02% of the votes polled independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh emerged victorious in the 2019 general elections. Ambareesh won against Nikhil Kumaraswamy of JD(S) who could manage to get 41.89% the votes polled. The 2019 Parliamentary elections witnessed a voter turnout of 82.1%.
