BENGALURU: A supplementary charge sheet with eight photos showing Darshan inside the shed after killing Renukaswamy was submitted to the court. City police, probing the gruesome murder of Chitradurga-based salesman S Renukaswamy, 33, filed a supplementary charge sheet with a local court on Saturday.
The latest charge sheet runs into 1,300 pages and, most importantly, contains eight pictures showing accused Darshan and three others standing inside the Pattanagere shed, where they allegedly beat Renukaswamy to death on the night of June 8 this year.
Additionally, more than 650 pages of the charge sheet contain call detail records (CDRs) of all the accused persons, a senior police officer told STOI.
The first charge sheet was filed in the first week of September this year. It had seven volumes and ran for over 3,991 pages. The documents included as many as eight forensic reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Bengaluru and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Hyderabad, along with DNA reports.
“The counsel for the accused argued that the arrest of one Dhanaraj alias Raju, a cable worker from Mandya and accused of passing electric shocks to Renukaswamy using a megger device, was an act of afterthought. He was arrested on the 10th day of the investigation. When the incident came to light, he fled to Goa and nearby places, and we sent many teams to trace him. In this charge sheet, we have explained to the court the reasons behind the delayed arrest of Dhanraj,” a senior police officer told STOI.
What are the eight photos? The eight photos, clicked by a security guard from the shed on his mobile, will play a vital role, opined a senior police officer. “These photos were deleted, and we retrieved them. Moments before leaving the shed, three men—Jagadish, Ravishankar, and Raghavendra—stood with Darshan and asked the security guard to click the pictures. After taking the pictures, everyone left the shed,” a senior police officer, quoting from the charge sheet, told STOI.
City police arrested as many as 17 suspects on charges of murdering Renukaswamy, after booking them for abduction, murder, criminal conspiracy, and destruction of evidence, among other charges.
