BENGALURU: The mortal remains of 15-year-old Divyanshi, who lost her life in the stampede outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, were taken from her residence to the cremation ground on Thursday amid an outpouring of grief.
Divyanshi was among the 11 victims killed in the chaos that erupted during the IPL victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Her family has raised serious allegations against the authorities, citing inadequate medical support and a delayed police response.
“People pushed in and she fell. First aid was not given properly. We took her in the auto. There was no proper police support. We waited for four hours for the FIR.”
He further criticised the state government’s preparedness and priorities, saying, “It's the government's responsibility; for political parties, they (the government) arrange everything but not for such sports events.”
The family’s statement adds to the mounting pressure on the Karnataka government, which is already facing questions over crowd control and safety arrangements at the event.
