Street plays to promote cleanliness, waste segregation in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 initiative, the Bengaluru Central City Corporation organised community street plays at three locations to spread awareness on cleanliness, waste segregation, plastic reduction and water conservation.

After attending the programme at Church Street, commissioner Rajendra Cholan urged citizens, NGOs, organisations and apartment welfare associations to work with the civic body to help transform Bengaluru into a clean, beautiful and healthy city.

The awareness campaign focused on the importance of protecting water bodies, proper waste segregation and disposal, banning single-use plastic, encouraging recycling and maintaining cleanliness in public places.

Officials also flagged the issue of garbage dumping “black spots”, saying they damage the city’s appearance and pose sanitation concerns, while stressing that public participation is crucial to preventing them.

Street plays were held near Lalbagh West Gate, Indiranagar’s KFC bus stop and Church Street. Citizens and officials also took a pledge to support cleanliness and better waste management across the city.
