Bengaluru: Couple, son con investors using Smart City projects, arrested

BENGALURU: A couple and their son were arrested for cheating people on the pretext of getting them government tenders under the Smart City projects. The con came to light when a man filed a police complaint that the couple cheated him for getting a tender for a photo shoot at Vidhana Soudha.

Rajesh S, 56, his wife R Satyabhama, 46, and their son R Anurag, 27, are residents of Banashankari II Stage. Deputy commissioner of police K Annamalai said they need time to confirm the number of victims and the total amount of money they managed to get from them.

Earlier this month, Bhaskar Naik complained to police that Rajesh and others took Rs 8 lakh from him saying they would get him the tender for taking pictures of Vidhana Soudha. “After the

, we found that the accused had cheated more people. Interrogation revealed that prime accused Rajesh would introduce himself as chief engineer with Smart City Projects and would help people get different tenders,” cops said.

Many victims had paid money and using it, Rajesh is producing a Kannada movie, 6 The Koota, with his son Anurag as the hero, police said.

Rajesh employed Bhaskar, a professional photographer, to take pictures of the muhurtam of the movie at a temple near Banashankari. “There, Rajesh promised Bhaskar of getting the tender to take pictures of Vidhana Soudha,” police added.
