Dhurandhar scene recreated with real guns? Karnataka Congress leader’s viral 'Fa9la' dance under police scanner — watch
KALABURAGI: A Congress leader in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district has landed in trouble after a video of him flaunting firearms while recreating a popular movie scene went viral on social media.
The video shows Mateen Patel, a close associate of Afzalpur Congress MLA MY Patil, making a dramatic entry in a black SUV and dancing to Fa9la, a song from the recent blockbuster film Dhurandhar.
Patel is seen holding a pistol in the footage, while another person accompanying him appears to be carrying a modern automatic rifle. The clip was reportedly shot during a wedding celebration.
Following the circulation of the video, Kalaburagi Police Commissioner Sharanappa S D said the police have taken note of the incident and initiated an inquiry.
“A video has gone viral on social media showing a man flaunting arms. We know the person in the video. I have instructed officers to find out where the video was shot and under which police station’s jurisdiction it falls,” the commissioner told reporters on Tuesday.
He said police have also been directed to verify the nature of the weapons seen in the video. “We will find out which weapon was used and whether it is real or not. If it is real, we will check whether it is licensed. If it is licensed, we will see whether the licence conditions were violated,” he said.
Sharanappa added that if the weapon is found to be illegal, action will be taken under the Arms Act. He also clarified that displaying weapons in public places is a criminal offence and said a suo motu case would be registered after the preliminary inquiry.
The video draws parallels with a scene from Dhurandhar in which actor Akshaye Khanna’s character, Rehman Dakait, is shown entering an arms dealer’s camp to a grand welcome.
