Karnataka's Mandya has been praised widely for confronting a bunch of youths on Tuesday when they heckled her for wearing a burqa on the campus, amid a raging row in the state over a hijab ban in educational institutions.

, who was seen standing up against the hecklers in a video that has gone viral.
She said people are free to practice any religion in the country. "They follow their culture, I follow mine. I should be allowed to follow my culture. I'm not questioning anybody. They should not question me either. It's my right to wear a burqa and hijab".
It was reported that some organisation had announced Rs 5 lakh for her bold act, but she said she's not aware of it.
