An NDRF team from Bhopal was rushing for the site in Pipliya village in Raghogarh, around 180km away. The child, identified as Sumit Meena, had gone to his family farm around 4pm and slipped into an open borewell that was dug a year ago.

When his family didn't see him for a long time, they went looking for him and realized he had fallen into the borewell.

Police were alerted, and Raghogarh SDM Vikas Kumar Anand quickly led a rescue team to the site. An SDERF team began excavating near the borewell to try to reach the boy. Oxygen was being supplied to Sumit through a pipe, said an official.
