RAISEN: At least three people were killed and 15 others injured after two private buses collided in Raisen district on Friday. The incident occurred around 1 pm near the Sehatganj toll plaza on the Bhopal–Raisen Road.
Two of the deceased have been identified as Makhan Singh Lodhi, 29 and Nitish Vyas, 28. The third victim is yet to be identified. All the bodies have been sent to the district mortuary, police said.
Eyewitnesses said the impact of the collision was so severe that the front portions of both buses were extensively damaged.
Officials said that the severely injured passengers were referred to Hamidia Hospital, while the others were admitted to the district hospital in Raisen, PTI reported.
Collector Arun Kumar Vishwakarma and Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Gupta rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the accident.
According to police, the private buses were operated by Shakti Bus Service and Kalpana Travels.
Eyewitnesses said bystanders helped rescue trapped passengers before officials and emergency teams reached the spot.
Further investigation into the accident is underway, and police are examining the cause of the collision.
