Arunoday Singh files divorce petition in Bhopal

Bhopal: Bollywood actor and senior Congress leader Ajay Singh’s son, Arunoday Singh, has filed a divorce suit under section 27 of Special Marriage Act with the family court in Bhopal. His counsel, Gunjan Chowsey, while confirming that she has filed a divorce petition on behalf of her client, said, the actor has prayed the court for legal end to his marriage with Canadian national, Lee Anne Elton.

When asked for grounds on which Arunoday sought divorce from Elton, whom he married in December 2016, after two years of dating, she said “Irreconcilable differences, mental incompatibility and escalating domestic discord”.

She said that the problem between the couple had began soon after they moved to Mumbai from Goa after marriage. Despite seeking timely counselling, ties between the two worsened steadily until divorce became the only logical solution.

Gunjan further said that Arunoday was very keen to have matters resolved amicably through a mutual divorce settlement. This was duly communicated to her lawyer as well but for reasons of her own, she refused to exercise this option, thereby leaving Arunoday with no choice but initiate the divorce process on his own. He, still, hopes for a less “acrimonious” legal process to end the wedlock. Elton could not be contacted for comments.
