BHOPAL: A professor riding a two-wheeler died after a speeding SUV rammed into him on Raisen Road in Bhopal’s Bilkhiria locality.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Acting on information, Bilkhiria police reached the spot and registered a case against the unidentified SUV driver.

Bilkhiria SHO Sunil Chaturvedi said that the deceased Sanjeev Sharma, 42, hailed from Ganj Basoda in Vidisha district and resided here at Sagar Enclave in Katara Hills with his wife and a two-and-a-half-years old kid.

He was an assistant professor in the Computer Science Engineering department of a private university located in Kolua Khurd village.

SHO Chaturvedi said that on Wednesday around 12pm, Sanjeev left the university on his bike.

As he reached the Raisen main road through the service road, a speeding unidentified SUV going from Bhopal towards Raisen, hit his bike and fled.

Sanjeev sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to Hamidia hospital where he was declared brought dead.

SHO Chaturvedi said that police had registered a case and were scanning the footage of CCTV cameras fitted on the road to identify the errant vehicle.

Further investigations were on in the case.
