BHOPAL: A 35-year-old CRPF constable stationed at the CRPF Bangrasia Camp allegedly shot dead his 32-year-old wife at their rented home in Capital Green Colony, Misrod, past midnight on Thursday.
Shortly after, he called the CRPF Control Room, Dial-100, and their landlord at around 1:30am, confessing to the crime before taking his own life with the same rifle.
Upon receiving the distress call, Misrod police arrived at the scene and sent both bodies for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from an ongoing marital dispute, though no suicide note was found.
According to SHO Misrod Manish Raj Bhadouria, the deceased, Ravikant Verma, 35, hailed from Bhind and served as a constable at the CRPF Bangrasia Camp. He lived with his wife, Renu Verma, 32, and their two children (aged 6 and 2) in Capital Green Colony, near the camp in Bangrasia Misrod.
SHO Bhadouria said that Ravikant was on Quarter Guard duty on Wednesday night and returned home around 10 PM with a rifle. At approximately 1:30am, he shot his wife while their children were asleep in the house.
Following the act, he called the CRPF Control Room, Dial-100, and his landlord to inform them about the incident. Shortly after, he turned the rifle on himself and killed himself.
Misrod police are investigating the exact reasons behind the tragedy.
