Dhar election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Savitri Thakur wins
NEW DELHI: Dhar Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 29 parliamentary constituencies in Madhya Pradesh, reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Established in 1967, it covers the entire Dhar district and part of Indore district. This constituency comprises eight legislative assembly segments: Sardarpur, Gandhwani, Kukshi, Manawar, Dharampuri, Dhar, Badnawar, and Dr. Ambedkar Nagar-Mhow.

Savitri Thakur from the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, securing 794,449 votes, which is 218,665 more than the runner-up. Radheshyam Muvel from the Indian National Congress came in second place with 575,784 votes, falling short by 218,665 votes compared to the winner.
Dhumsingh Mandloi Machhar from the Bahujan Samaj Party received 14,956 votes, which is 779,493 fewer than the winner. Jitendra Muniya from the Bharat Adivasi Party obtained 10,621 votes, trailing the winner by 783,828 votes. Sunil Ajrawat, an independent candidate, secured 5,408 votes, which is 789,041 votes less than the winner. Shivaji Patel Kalmi, another independent candidate, received 4,700 votes, falling behind the winner by 789,749 votes. Vikram Vasuniya from the Janata Congress garnered 3,475 votes, which is 790,974 votes fewer than the winner. The "None of the Above" (Nota) option received 15,651 votes, which is 778,798 votes less than the winner.
The 2024 Lok Sabha election for Dhar took place on May 13, during the fourth phase of the national elections, with a voter turnout of 72.76%. The key candidates for this election are Savitri Thakur from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Radheshyam Muvel from the Indian National Congress (INC).
In the 2019 Indian general elections, Chattarsingh Darbar from the BJP won the seat with 722,147 votes, securing 53.73% of the vote share. His main opponent, Girwal Dinesh from the Congress, received 566,118 votes, accounting for 42.12% of the total votes.
In the 2014 Indian general elections, Savitri Thakur of the BJP won the seat with 558,387 votes, which was 51.84% of the votes. The Congress candidate, Umang Singhar, garnered 454,059 votes, or 42.16%.
The current political scenario in Dhar indicates a strong contest between the BJP and Congress. The BJP, which has held the seat since 2014, faces significant competition from the Congress. The BJP's Savitri Thakur, a former MP, and Congress's Radheshyam Muvel, a fresh face, are the main contenders. In the 2023 assembly elections, Congress won five out of the eight assembly segments, suggesting a competitive environment for the upcoming general elections.
