BHOPAL: Sunday turned a golden day in Gujarat for the water sports players of Madhya Pradesh in the 36th National Games. MP players won four gold medals and two silver and a bronze medal.
Vishwajit Singh Kushwaha of Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy of Excellence won the gold medal for Madhya Pradesh in C1 canoe singles category.
Academy's Kayak Hitesh Kewat has won gold medal in K1 singles. Today's third gold medal was won by Academy's Kayak Shikha Chauhan in K1 singles competition. Fourth gold in Canoeing C1 singles went to Jhanvi Srivastava.
Akshit Baroi and Vishal Dangi of Water Sports Academy won silver medal in K2 1000m event while Neeraj Verma also won silver medal in C1 1000m event.
Nitin Verma of Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy of Excellence won bronze medal in K1 1000m event.
Sports minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia has congratulated all the winners and their coaches and said that it is a proud moment for the state. "These sportspersons have proved that hard work, focus on goal and passion will definitely bring you success," said Scindia.
She also congratulated the parents and guardians of all the winners who handed over their children and gave them a chance to flourish.
