Bhopal: If there is a temple around your home, at least one person from your family should attend morning or evening aarti and make prasad for the temple in regular intervals.
This is part of the Madhya Pradesh government’s plans for a major drive to associate people with temples around their surroundings, particularly the youths.
As per the plan, initially the government would list 62 families residing around every major temple of state and start a drive to associate people with temples by making them attend arti and bring prasad.
The pujaris in the temples of the state would be given training and would be taught how to perform pujas and would be told the importance of time and their attire in the puja. Around 21 thousand temples would be covered in the drive. The government will also decide the timetable of pujaris and temples. It would also indirectly help visitors understand the importance and beliefs behind different rituals.
Culture, Tourism, Religious Trusts and Endowment Minister Usha Thakur said, “We will give training to pujaris and request every pujari to make a list of 62 houses around the temple to associate with them. Pujaris will make kids learn prayers. Everyone should participate in the aarti to make temples centres of social interest. It has also been decided to get prasad in temples from homes around it. Prasad should be brought from one home every day. It can be anything cooked at home. Even if it is dal roti, bring it in a small plate to the temple, offer it to god and take it back,’ she added.
