Madhya Pradesh govt school teacher held for rape of Class I student

BHOPAL: A 58-year-old govt school teacher was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl inside a classroom in Tikkamgarh district.

According to the complaint, the Class I student had gone to school as usual when the teacher allegedly took her to a room on the school premises and sexually assaulted her.


After returning home, the child narrated the incident to her grandmother, following which the family approached the police.

The girl's grandmother and other family members lodged a complaint with the police. Acting on it, police registered a case under relevant provisions of law including POSCO and arrested the accused. Officials said the accused was taken into custody soon after the complaint was verified.

Police said the incident occurred on Thursday and immediate action was taken. A case has been registered and the teacher has been arrested.
