Bhopal: A retired SDM who had pledged body donation, illuminated lives others through cadaveric donation here on Thursday. The deceased was declared brain dead on May 18 and his liver and eyes gave the sight of life to at least three others.
The deceased retired SDM Avinash Tiwari had pledged for body donation, said

, an NGO representative. Tiwari, retired as joint collector in Bhopal, died on Thursday.
Before leaving the world, 69-year-old Avinash illuminated three lives. His liver and both eyes were donated. Tiwari, was a resident of Hirapura village in Vidisha district, took a pledge to for body donation in a programme in Vidisha. Recently, he was admitted to Bansal Hospital in Bhopal due to brain hemorrhage. When the condition did not show improvement, on the advice of the counselors, the family donated was counselled for cadaveric donation.

Tiwari

was associated with many social organizations after retiring from the post of Joint Collector. He actively participated in literary and creative activities. The family members also agreed to donate his body but according to the rules, the body cannot be donated after the organ donation process.
The body of Avinash Tiwari will be sent to Vidisha with a police band salute from Bansal Hospital at 5 pm. On Friday, his last rites will be performed at Vidisha Muktidham from his residence
