Lt Gen Prit Pal Singh takes over as GOC of Sudarshan Chakra Corps

Bhopal: Lieutenant General Prit Pal Singh took charge as 28th General Officer Commanding of Sudarshan Chakra Corps on Monday. Lt General Vipul Shinghal, Sena Medal, passed on the baton to Lt General Singh. Singh extends his warm greetings to all ranks, Veer Naris and veterans as well as their family members after taking the charge. Lieutenant General Prit Pal Singh was commissioned into 62 Cavalary of the Armoured Corps in December 1989. He is an alumnus of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. In a career spanning over 34 years, he has tenanted active combat roles in the Army. The General has a distinct service profile, having attended various prestigious courses, including the Defence Services Staff Course at Wellington, Higher Command Course at Mhow and National Defence Course at Delhi. He brings with him vast experience of varied Military theatres ranging from desert to counter terrorism operations.Singh has a wide experience in various high profile command staff and instructional appointments. He commanded an armoured regiment on the Western Front and in counter terrorism environment. He was General Officer Commanding of an Infantry Division in Southern Command. The General has served in the department of peacekeeping operations at Headquarters United Nations, New York as well as in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Ethiopia and Eritrea. He has also been a directing staff at Senior Command Wing, Army War College, Mhow.Prior to taking over the Sudarshan Chakra Corps, he was tenanting appointment of Major General Staff at Headquarters Southern Command. Singh has been awarded Vice Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for his exemplary dedication and distinguished service during his tenure at Military Operations Directorate. He was also awarded General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Command Commendation Card during Command of 62 Cavalary, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief ARTRAC Commendation Card during his tenure at Army War College and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command Commendation Card.
