Stone that changed everything

For over two years, 45-year-old Savitri Sisodia labored day after day under the scorching sun at the diamond mines of Panna.

New lease, new chance

In May, she took a fresh lease for a mine patch in Sakaria village’s Chopra area, one more shot at changing her destiny.

The moment of discovery

On June 24, while clearing soil in the leased patch, Savitri spotted a shiny pebble. Reflecting on the discovery, she said that she had worked tirelessly for two years and finally her efforts had paid off. She added that it felt like a blessing and that her prayers had finally been heard.

Nature’s priceless gift

The diamond, weighing 2.69 carats, was her first ever. Savitri, her voice filled with relief, said that it was a priceless gift from nature.

Official deposit at local mining office

Savitri promptly submitted the diamond to the local mining office, where officials confirmed its weight and purity. District diamond officer Anupam Singh stated that it would now be auctioned as per the rules.

Awaiting auction day

The diamond will be auctioned by the government, and after deductions for royalties and taxes, Savitri will receive the proceeds.
