from Bundelkhand region and former minister Kusum Mahdele taking to twitter on Sunday and expressing solidarity with Usha Thakur, MLA from Indore-3 seat.

Thakur had expressed her displeasure over being shifted by the party from her constituency to contest from Mhow to accommodate BJP general secretary Kailash Vijaywargiya’s son. Mehdele, who was denied a BJP ticket from her constituency in Panna, tweeted, “I sympathise with you.”

ticket denial

On Saturday, a video went viral on social media showing Usha Thakur speaking about the “vanshwad” (nepostism) in the party. She was talking to some people in Mhow after elections. Thakur was heard in the video describing herself as a victim of political injustice.

Mehdele said, “Usha Thakur ji, aapke saath anyaya hua hai. Bewajah aapko Indore-3 Vidhan Sabha Chhodkar jana padaa hai . Hume aapke prati sahanbhuti hai” (Usha Thakur, injustice was done with you. Unnecessarily you were made to leave Indore 3 seat. I completely sympathise with you.”

Later talking to TOI over phone, Mehdele said she had raised the issue of denial of ticket to her at the party platform. “What is extremely surprising is the fact that I was not even invited to campaign for the party,” she said, adding, “even when the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was addressing a rally in Panna, I was not invited.”

Refusing to comment on BJP prospects in the recently concluded assembly elections, she said, she had won the last assembly election with a margin of more than 29,000 votes and people from all castes had voted for her.

“I may be a Lodhi, but SC, STs and Muslims among others - all voted for me, but the BJP did not realise this,” she said angrily. tnn
