BHOPAL: The

Madhya Pradesh government

on Tuesday announced the ‘Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna’ for farmers on the lines of the PM-Kisan scheme for farmers whereby a sum of Rs 4,000 per annum would be transferred to the

bank account

of farmers in two installments each financial year.

This amount would be in addition to the existing Rs 6,000 per year paid in three instalments under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan).

All 77 lakh farmers in the state registered under the

PMKisan scheme

would receive the money.

Addressing cabinet colleagues before a meeting, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said with the state government’s assistance along with Central scheme the farmers will now get Rs 10,000 per year.

MP government will give benefit of Mukhya Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to each farmer in the state after conducting a survey of farmers. The estimated number of land holding farmers in the state is one crore, he said. Chouhan said that the distribution of the first instalment of Samman Nidhi to the farmers under Mukhya Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will take place on the birthday of

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya

on September 25 and directed officials to work accordingly.

The chief minister himself will transfer the amount in farmers’ accounts from Bhopal, while ministers as well as other public representatives will transfer the amount in programmes, to be organised in other districts.

Chief secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, while informing about the process of the Mukhya Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, said that information of farmers to be benefitted will be registered on Kisan Samman Nidhi portal. Patwaris will verify the information in their respective areas and farmers are required to apply only once, physically to the patwari concerned.
