NTCA seeks report on 'minister's chicken party' in Satpura core area

BHOPAL: The Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change has taken note of an allegation that a chicken party was held inside Satpura Tiger Reserve (STR), and that minister Kunwar Vijay Shah and his associates were involved.

The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has sought an update from the Madhya Pradesh government on what action has been taken, and referred to a complaint from wildlife activist Ajay Dubey.

According to the complaint filed by Dubey, some STR officials allegedly facilitated a visit for Harsud MLA Vijay Shah and his companions to Rorighat Siddhababa hill in private vehicles, where chicken was cooked. Such activities are banned in the core area.

Over a week into the investigation, there is no report or action. Two videos of the alleged chicken party have surfaced, one featuring Shah himself.

Shah, a former forest minister, was recently re-inducted into the cabinet but portfolios are yet to be allocated.
