BHOPAL: Rahul Gandhi's early Sunday visit on a jungle safari in Panarpani of Satpura Tiger Reserve started a political slugfest both in the state and elsewhere. While BJP attacked the leader of opposition calling him "Leader of Partying" and "Leader of Paryatan", the state Congress leadership went from denying the trip to jungle safari itself first to later evading reply.
Soon after pictures of Rahul Gandhi's jungle safari went viral on social media, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala took to X saying that LoP in the case of Rahul Gandhi actually stands for "Leader of Paryatan & Partying". "While Bihar goes to polls, he goes on vacation and when they lose, they'll blame the Election Commission and release a powerpoint on H files (Holiday files)," he wrote taking a jibe at the LoP.
State minister Vishwas Sarang said that Rahul Gandhi doesn't take "politics seriously and goes off on a foreign jaunt or a jungle safari when the political atmosphere is hot in the country". Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said BJP will win 160 seats in Bihar and "then Rahul will go on a foreign holiday".
The state Congress media in-charge Mukesh Nayak, however, denied that Rahul Gandhi had gone on a jungle safari. Nayak said, "You believe me, it is not a jungle safari. He had gone to see tourist spots adjacent to Pachmarhi, like Mahadev Pani." He was referring to a famous Lord Shiva's temple near Pachmarhi.
State Congress chief Jitu Patwari, who is in Pachmarhi, couldn't be contacted for comments.
